Hubble Telescope

The Hubble telescope was launched into space on April 1990 on a space shuttle. The name "Hubble" comes from the American astronomer Edwin Hubble. The Hubble was not the first telescope but is well known for being an important research tool.

Space telescopes came around in the 1920's, but the Hubble wasn't around till the 1970's and was supposed to be lunched in 1983. The Hubble had some technical difficulties and was delayed launch until 1990. The Hubble telescope orbits the earth and takes very good pictures with sharp picture quality. The Hubble has also helped discover the theory of the universes expanding.

The Hubble was the only Space Telescope that was supposed to have people working with it in space. But after the the Columbia disaster they canceled going back up to the Hubble in 2002.
